Can I travel with my pump?

Sure you can! It is completely safe for any pump to go through the X-ray machines at the airport. When traveling with your pump it is recommended that you pack your pump in either a small suitcase or small duffel bag with some type of protective padding. We suggest using foam padding or bubble wrap, which you can purchase from any local arts and craft store. It is imperative that the entire pump is completely wrapped so it will not be damaged during travel. We advise that you place a visible tag or label on the suitcase or bag, stating "Handle with Care, Medical Equipment." We can provide you with some literature explaining what the pump is used for in the event that airport security has questions pertaining to the pump. Contact us at least 14 days prior to your departure date and we'll be happy to mail the appropriate information to you. 


How do pneumatic compression devices work?

A pneumatic compression garment paired with a pump producing various pressure gradients simulates normal actions of the circulatory system by using external pressure. Inflation of the garment both proximally and distally produces pressure causing lymphatic fluids or blood to circulate out of the affected limb, reducing swelling and preventing potential blood clots and wounds from forming.


What are the different types of pneumatic compression devices?

BioHorizon Medical’s Pneumatic compressions devices fall under five categories: 4 Chamber Compression Devices; 8-12 Chamber Compression Devices; Arterial Compression Devices; DVT (SCD) Devices; and Post Traumatic Compression Devices.


Why is the "Preset Do Not Adjust" tape on my device?

The "Preset Do Not Adjust" tape is placed on the front of your device after the pressure has been set to its recommended settings. You should not change your pressure settings unless you have been advised by your physician. In that event, please contact us for step by step instructions on how to adjust your pressure settings.


Will I have to assemble anything?

No, your device and garments come pre-assembled by our shipping department. There should be no need for you to assemble anything. If you feel that something should have been assembled that’s not, please contact us ASAP and we’ll send a rep to your location or provide step by step instructions over the phone.


Is there a warranty?

Products are warranted solely by the manufacturer. The complete warranty information is included with the product and is subject to the conditions set forth by the manufacturer. In many cases the manufacturer will handle the replacement of the product and cover the postage expenses both ways.
