Venous Health Systems™ Products

Venous Health Systems™ develops medical devices for the treatment of vascular insufficiency. Their device, the Vasculaire Compression System was recently cleared by the Food & Drug Administration for sale in the United States.

This revolutionary pneumatic compression device is used for the treatment of vascular insufficiency. Unlike other compression devices, it operates without the use of power cords or air lines. The system uses a fully portable pneumatic controller attached to a multi-chamber sleeve. The sleeve is placed on the patient’s foot or ankle and the controller activates the cells to promote circulation through sequential, wave-like inflation.

In addition to not having to deal with cords or wires, the device also makes use of a smaller-than-average control unit attached directly to the patient’s sleeve. This allows patients who require the use of pneumatic compression devices to be fully mobile and in many cases, go about their normal activities, resulting in increased patient compliance. While other pneumatic compression devices can weigh up to 12lbs, the Vasculaire Compression System weighs in at just 1lbs., offering patients in hospitals, home care facilities and their homes greater flexibility while using the device.

BioHorizon Medical sells the Vasculaire Intermittent Pneumatic Compression System to help prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT), blood clots that start in the leg or groin. Those clots have the potential to travel into the lungs causing a blockage known as a pulmonary embolism (PE) which can result in sudden death.

Venous Health System’s™ cutting edge device is also perfect for use by pregnant women. Obstetricians have recently called for revisions in health guidelines to include DVT compression devices as required wear for any woman before and during a scheduled cesarean section. Sequential pumps work by mimicking the blood pumping action in the leg to promote normal blood flow and are commonly used on patients undergoing surgery. The beauty of Venous Health Systems™ device is its allowance for greater mobility. Pregnant women can wear the compression sleeve with attached controller and go about their daily routines without inconvenience.

The Vasculaire Compression System is also perfect for use as a DVT and PE prophylaxis for general surgery patients. Statistics show, without prophylaxis DVT and PE can occur in up to 40 percent of general surgery patients. That percent jumps to 60 percent of patients following a major orthopedic surgery.
